AI-Generated Stories Rated Higher in Quality Than Human-Written Content

Research published in the journal Judgment and Decision Making has found that stories generated by artificial intelligence receive higher quality ratings compared to those written by humans. The study involved 1,682 adult participants who were asked to read one of six short stories. These stories included three created by AI and three composed by human authors.

Participants evaluated the stories on various criteria, with the AI-written narratives rated more favorably overall. According to the findings, the simplicity of the AI-generated writing contributed to its perceived clarity and accessibility, thus making it easier to read and digest.

Despite the positive assessment of AI-generated stories, researchers emphasized that this does not imply an end to human authorship. Human writers have a long-standing tradition in storytelling, with works ranging from ancient texts to contemporary novels.
