Kärin Lévitt announced on August 12, 2023, that she is stepping down from her position as White House Press Secretary. In her statement, she explained that, due to her role as a mother of two young children, she could not be the best mother she wanted to be.

President Donald Trump confirmed the resignation via his social media platform Truth Social, adding that Lévitt will leave her position at the end of August. She will take on a role as an advisor to the President moving forward.
