Femke Broeders-Bol reaches 800 meter final at European Championships, Werro falls

Femke Broeders-Bol convincingly qualified for the final of the 800 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Thursday. She finished second in her semi-final with a time of 1:57.46, behind British athlete Keely Hodgkinson, who won the race in 1:57.38.

This marks Broeders-Bol's first appearance at the European Championships, and her performance in the semi-final was considered strong. In the other semi-final, her main competitor, Audrey Werro from Switzerland, fell, despite having the fastest time of the season to her name.

Despite Werro's fall, she is still likely to advance to the final, which does not rule out her chances for medals. Broeders-Bol has demonstrated with her strong time that she is indeed a serious contender for the championship.

In addition to Broeders-Bol, Lieke Klaver also qualified for the final of the 400 meters. Klaver impressed with a solid performance in her quarter-finals.
