Angola spends three times more on debt than on social sector

According to recent data, Angola spent three times more on debt service than on the social sector. Between April and June, financial charges absorbed 56% of public spending, a significant increase of 123% compared to 2025.

The social sector, on the other hand, received only 16% of the total expenditure during the same period. This deviation in budget allocation raises concerns about the sustainability of social services in the country.

This financial situation poses a major challenge for the Angolan government, which must balance debt payment needs with social investments and the well-being of the population.
