30 km/h speed limit on main traffic routes requires expert review
Cities and municipalities must prove that 30 km/h zones do not cause detour traffic in order to implement them.
According to information from SRF, cities and municipalities will need to submit an expert report in order to introduce 30 km/h zones on main traffic routes. The report should demonstrate that the new regulations do not lead to detour traffic in the respective neighborhoods.
This measure aims to minimize the impact of traffic calming measures on surrounding residential areas. The regulation will come into effect to ensure better traffic planning and to avoid undesirable side effects.
